What is KidsCare?
KidsCare became a division of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County in 2006 to provide safe before and after school programming for families with children in grades K-6. KidsCare’s quality programs are designed to enrich and entertain children while developing their self-esteem, self-reliance and concern for others. KidsCare sites are located in most Elkhart Community Elementary Schools and are designed to meet the needs of the students and their active families.
Before School Care
Opens early in the morning (exact time depends on each school’s need) and is dismissed when school starts. Morning activities include quiet table games, puzzles and free-play. Homework help and reading is offered. Students attending the morning program can participate in the school’s breakfast program. It is the responsibility of the parent to make payment directly to the school for the cost of breakfast.
After School Care
KidsCare begins when school is dismissed and closes as late as 5:30 p.m. A variety of activities are planned each afternoon, including homework help, reading, various recreational activities and a chance for the children to relax and spend time with friends.
